Big Basin Redwoods State Park

Experience a rustic tent cabin at Big Basin Redwoods State Park in California. Located 65 miles south of San Fransisco, CA, Big Basin State Park is located in the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains among the inspiring California Redwoods. It was designated California’s first State Park in 1908.

There are 35 tent cabins at Big Basin, three of which are wheelchair accessible.  Each tent cabin has a maximum occupancy of eight people.  The tents are situated on raised wooden platforms and measure approximately 12′x14′, with wooden sides and mesh vent panels.  The roof is canvas secured over a wooden frame and there is a screen door.  Each tent is equipped with two double platform beds with mattress pads, a wood stove, table and bench.  Outside each cabin is a fire pit with grill and a picnic table.

There are two restrooms in the campground, along with coin-operated showers and laundry facilities.  If you lack camping supplies, you can rent a full camping package, including sleeping bags, stove, cooler, wood, ice and more from the general store, starting at $100.  There is also gifts, groceries, cold beer and wine and more available.  They even have an espresso bar and a freshly squeezed organic juice bar, so the comforts of city life are never too far away.

If you’re looking to get into the great outdoors, Big Basin is the place to do it.  Not only are you surrounded by gigantic Redwoods, there are plenty of waterfalls, and over 80 miles of hiking trails.
